Initial Teacher Training update

The new 2021-22 school-based trainees are now firmly established in their placement schools. The Julian Teaching School Hub currently has 32 Suffolk and Norfolk Initial Teacher Trainees placed in the EENEL5 region in both primary and secondary schools.

Sofia Ramasso is based at Notre Dame High School in Norwich and had the following to say about her experience so far:

“I am absolutely loving it! The support received has been amazing and there are so many people who are willing to help in any way they can. This has helped me massively as, when I first started, I was nervous to begin teaching. The support that SNITT gives, as well as the support from my placement school which has made me feel welcome, has increased my confidence, and I am so grateful for everyone that is part of this course. I have had the opportunity to observe a variety of lessons across the entire school, which has allowed me to see the different methods teachers use when teaching different classes. The CPD sessions we receive as trainees are incredibly helpful, and always provide clear links to how we can use what we learn in our own teaching.”

The Julian Teaching School Hub is working with providers to place trainees, particularly in primary schools, for placement B in 2022. If you have not been involved in school-based training for a while, or would like to find out more about the benefits to your school, please contact Sarah Bird, ITT Lead (sbird@ndhs.org.uk).
