Initial Teacher Training update

By Sarah Bird, ITT Lead at the Julian Teaching School Hub

This month the Julian Teaching School Hub has been meeting with ITT providers to support them with their accreditation process after the Government response to the initial teacher training (ITT) market review report was published in December 2021.

Existing accredited providers will see their current accredited status expire at the end of August 2024 unless they are successfully accredited to deliver training against the new quality requirements from the 2024/2025 academic year. The ITT accreditation process will consist of two stages, stage 1 being the written application with a deadline of 7 February 2022.

If providers are successful following stage 1, they will progress to stage 2 which is the follow-up stage to enable them to be ready to deliver an ITT course that meets the ITT criteria 2024/2025.

The ITT market review report is designed to ensure that all providers are able to deliver the highest quality ITT. The Julian Teaching School Hub remains committed to supporting ITT providers with placements in the EENEL5 region, including providing opportunities to develop partnerships by contributing to the trainee curriculum, mentoring, and providing CPD for professional tutors such as the new NPQLTD.

Key documents have been posted on our new Microsoft Teams Professional Tutors Network. Professional tutors can join this network using the code mlqwb5t or by emailing Sbird@ndhs.org.uk, ITT Lead for the Julian Teaching School Hub.
