Initial Teacher Training is the very start of the golden thread of teacher development. My role for the Julian Teaching School Hub is to look at how I can best support schools, mentors and trainee teachers to gain the very best experience of Initial Teacher Training.  The government recently cited that ITT trainees can be a valuable asset in contributing to help ensure students haven’t missed out on the knowledge and education that they are entitled to.

I work with local providers to help place ITT students in schools where they will thrive, learn and gain an understanding of wider teaching practice to help them prepare for their ECT years.  Although I have spoken with some of you last year about your ability to host a trainee, I would welcome the opportunity to discuss having a trainee in your primary or secondary school if you have not hosted a trainee in recent years, or if you would like to find out more about ITT in your area.
