Well done us.

In this newsletter, we have a few gentle reminders for you; some LGBT+ History Month resources; and news from the East of England RISE team – read on for those, and don't forget to check out the articles in the news feed below.

BREAKING NEWS!

The EEF's Reading House has been renovated!

"Reading is complicated. Teaching it well? Even more so.

That’s why we’ve given our Reading House a refresh. We’ve kept its rock-solid, evidence-informed foundations – and we’ve added much more emphasis on what this actually looks like in classrooms.

What’s new?

  • Real insights from teachers and leaders
  • Blogs from the Research Schools Network
  • Practical tools and ready-to-use resources
  • Short videos showing reading instruction in action

Whether you’re shaping whole-class reading, planning targeted interventions, or leading CPD: the Reading House helps make sense of how all the moving parts of reading fit together."

And finally...

The Education Job Finder has launched its ECT Talent Pool for 2026.

"Norfolk has a robust programme of support, advice and guidance for Early Career Teachers and you will receive a personalised programme of support to give you the best start. Norfolk also has great CPD programmes to develop you throughout your career.

The ECT Talent Pool supports you to find your first teaching role in Norfolk. All educational establishments have access to our well-established pool to seek candidates for upcoming roles."

Spotlight on... Some gentle reminders

  • Your ECT's professional development shouldn't suffer when their mentor is away from school. Induction tutors can 'tag team' coach via StepLab – find out how here.
  • Are you thinking ahead to next year? Did you know that mentoring is amazing professional development? Read about it here.
  • Are you an induction tutor? Is your ECT or mentor unwell or away from school for an extended period? Let us know as soon as you are aware. This helps us to support you through teacher absence during induction.
  • Personal support plans (PSPs) for ECTs aren't a punishment – the clue's in the name. Read about PSPs and what they mean for you here.

Focus on... LGBT+ History Month

We share resources from Just Like Us regularly - because they're inclusive, thoughtful, and stage-appropriate. So we HAD to share this because it's brilliant: awareness day packs for World Book Day and International Women's Day, highlighting LGBT+ inclusion.

"Our brand-new free International Women's Day pack includes:

  • A form-time celebrating LGBT+ women
  • A range of posters that include LGBT+ women

Our brand-new free World Book Day pack includes:

  • A range of posters that celebrate reading inclusively
  • A slide deck with recommendations from our ambassadors of their favourite LGBT+ inclusive books
  • Don't forget: Our 25/26 reading list "

And of course, there are loads of resources dedicated to celebrating LGBT+ History Month.

To get the resources, simply register or sign in and then click "School resources" on the left-hand side of your "My Account" page.
