Welcome

Hello! And welcome to the latest Early Career Teacher Programme newsletter. We send these half-termly, keeping you up to date with all things Early Career Teachers.

Coming up this half term

  • The next set of clinics for Early Career Teachers is coming up on 7-9 March, all 4-5pm. Your ECTs have been added to their clinic on MyAmbition; please encourage them to RSVP via the platform - and do remind them that attendance at these clinics is expected as part of this funded programme.
  • A small number of ECTs were unable to attend their second conference last month. We have sent out a set of catch up videos but, for those who would prefer the interactive experience, Ambition Institute are running two live catch up conferences. We have sent the details out to relevant colleagues - do please encourage them to sign up.

Reminder: DfE portal

We still have a small number of ECTs who do not appear to have been registered on the DfE portal. Your school will not be able to access funding for these ECTs and their mentors unless this has been completed - we would be grateful if you would double-check that this has been done for all of your school's ECTs.

Once again, thank you for all you're doing to make our ECTs feel welcome and supported in the profession, and thank you for supporting us in the delivery of this programme. We really do appreciate all that you do.

Spotlight on... How do I pause the programme?

We have previously advised that if you know that engagement with the programme in your school is slipping due to unavoidable circumstances, you should let us know.

We have now been advised by Ambition Institute that in this circumstance Induction Coordinators are encouraged to pause the programme via StepLab. You can do this as follows:

Log into StepLab and navigate to your ECT's profile:

Click on 'Manage' and scroll down to 'Team membership':

Click on 'Edit':

You can then pause the programme. When your ECT is ready to resume, you can update StepLab accordingly. Following these steps will ensure that we know not to contact your ECTs and mentors with unwanted reminders.

What's new?

Mentor conference: Navigating the changing landscape
2 March 4.30-6pm, online.

This conference for primary and secondary ITT and ECT mentors is hosted by a consortium of six teaching school hubs in East Anglia. Hear about how we can support you, and listen to talks by Richard Kueh (Ofsted Subject Lead) and Charlotte Raby (part of the Expert Advisory Group for the new NPQ in Leading Literacy).

Book your place.

Norwich Research School wants to hear from you!

Our friends at Norwich Research School invite you to reflect on your priorities, any professional development needs of colleagues, and how you might use or contribute to Norwich Research School.
