Welcome

Hello! And welcome to our first newsletter of the summer term. It's a short half term - and the start of exam season - and we know teachers and school leaders have a lot to think about. With that in mind, we're working hard to update our website so that everything you need to know about employing an early career teacher is easy to find.

We've updated our Appropriate Body information page and included a link to our Induction Handbook for schools. We've also produced a handy information sheet on steps to take if you're appointing an early career teacher. The link is below.

We've also created a YouTube playlist of bite size information videos that we hope you'll find useful.

As ever, thank you for all you do - we hope you get a chance to get out and enjoy the sunshine!

Spotlight on... changes to the ECT registration process

In partnership with Inspiration Teaching School Hub and Norfolk Local Authority Appropriate Body, we recently held a webinar to explain changes to the ECT registration process for 2022, as well as an overview of the ECT programme and the implications for schools.

Beginning 10 May and running through to half term, the Department for Education will be contacting all schools to let you know how to register your ECTs on their online portal. They will also let all schools know that if they are employing an ECT from September they must register with an Appropriate Body.

We have collated the important information shared in our webinar into a series of bite size videos. Watch them here!

Mental Health Awareness Week

May 9-15 is Mental Health Awareness Week. Kooth is an online mental healthcare service which provides support to individuals under the age of 21, and is free to join if you live in Norfolk or Suffolk. Kooth have produced some brilliant resources for Mental Health Awareness Week for you to share with your pupils - check them out here.

For those of us over 21, the team behind Kooth have released Qwell - a similar service currently available to anyone living in Norfolk and Waveney. Check it out here.
