Welcome

Hello!

Second of all, we have a packed newsletter for you to close out this month.

Four members of the JTSH team attended Ambition Institute's DP Live conference in Birmingham this week for a preview of their revamped Early Career Training Programme (ECTP) for September 2025. The finishing touches are still being applied, so unfortunately we've had to cancel our pre-summer mentor induction conference - watch this space for dates in the new academic year.

Also this week, as part of her work for Norfolk Research School (which she does alongside her TSH work - busy bee!), our Operations Manager Susi attended the Research Schools Network annual conference in Sheffield, where she co-delivered a workshop on collaboration and communication - here she is, mid-flow:

Read on for news from Norfolk Research School, funded opportunities from the MTPT Project, and a host of information in the news feed below.

And finally...

This week has been School Diversity Week, an amazing initiative run by the charity Just Like Us. You can find a host of resources for schools on their website, here. Hear from their patron Jonathan Bailey as he kicked off School Diversity Week:

Spotlight on... the MTPT Project's Cradle to Classroom programme

Fully funded in the East of England, thanks to the support of the region's teaching school hubs.

Recent research from TeacherTapp highlighted a number of ongoing challenges associated with taking a period of maternity, adoption or shared parental leave: confusion over legal entitlements during this period, challenges around flexible working and leadership roles, barriers to progression and feeling ‘forgotten’ or ‘like a spare part’ when returning after time out.

It’s no wonder then, that women aged 30-39 make up the largest group of teachers to leave the profession every year with The MTPT Project and New Britain Project’s Missing Mothers report finding that motherhood had a lot to do with this attrition.

The MTPT Project’s Cradle to Classroom programme is designed to specifically address the challenges faced by colleagues at different stages of their parenting journeys.  The coaching and workshops are positive, empowering and offer participants the tools to fully enjoy both their personal and professional lives.

Upcoming dates for all three programmes in The MTPT Project’s 2025-26 Cradle to Classroom programme are available on Eventbrite.

Keep up to date by following @mtptproject on Instagram, or signing up to The MTPT Project’s fortnightly bulletin.

Focus on... NPQs

While we (still!) wait with bated breath for NPQ funding news, why not enjoy this, on the Norfolk Early Years Blog: National Professional Qualification for Early Years Leadership (NPQEYL).

We're keen to hear from schools which NPQs will be most of interest in 2025-26 - fill in our quick survey now to let us know.

Focus on... News from Norfolk Research School

The Research Schools Network has released a new set of 22 videos as part of its Clips from the Classroom collection - a living resource capturing real classroom practice across subjects and phases. These videos are designed to support teacher professional development, offering tangible examples of evidence-informed strategies in action.

Norfolk Research School has contributed two Clips from the Classroom, filmed at Robert Arkenstall Primary School: Explicit Vocabulary Teaching in Key Stage 2 and Promoting High-Quality Dialogue in Year 5.

These videos are designed to support educators in reflecting on and developing their own practice, particularly whilst considering our socio-economically disadvantaged pupils.
