Welcome

Hello! And welcome to our newsletter - the first one since it started to feel as though Spring is truly on its way. Read on for information about the Early Career Framework (ECF), working with us in 2022-23, and much more.

Wellbeing

From the same people behind Kooth, the app providing free online counselling and emotional wellbeing support service for young people, comes Qwell – a similar service for adults. If you're in Norfolk, you can now register for free to access their support and resources, which include articles, videos, podcasts, message boards, and live chat with the team. Sign up here.

Also free for all school staff is a subscription to Headspace, the science-backed app in mindfulness and meditation, providing unique tools and resources to help reduce stress, build resilience, and aid better sleep. More here.

Spotlight on... What does the ECF mean for your school?

Last September saw the national rollout of the Early Career Framework (ECF) reforms, a key part of the Department for Education’s response to 22% of NQTs who qualified in 2015 leaving the state sector two years later.

The implementation of the ECF affects how we plan our staffing, with the new roles to support ECTs requiring protected time and training. Even if you have an ECT this year, you may not feel completely confident with the revised statutory guidance for induction, and associated processes.

The DfE have produced information for school leaders, early career teachers, and mentors, to answer some common questions about how to set up and run your school's induction training programme.

Still unsure what you need to do? We're partnering with Inspiration Teaching School Hub and Norfolk County Council's Appropriate Body service to deliver a webinar on this subject, where you can ask your questions and get the answers you need.

Work with us!

Are you, or one of your colleagues, interested in developing your knowledge and skills? We will be recruiting new facilitators to join our team in April.

Here at the Julian TSH we see enabling colleagues to become system leaders as being key to workforce development and retention – where previously there were Specialist Leaders of Education, now there are opportunities to facilitate or otherwise help deliver Hub programmes. We are committed to inviting people from all schools to help deliver our offer, and once designated as one of our facilitators, your staff will develop knowledge and skills which motivate them, improve their impact in your organisation, and keep them with you that little bit longer.

We will be releasing more information soon; in the meantime, you can express your interest in working with us here.
