Welcome

Hello! And welcome to our final newsletter of this term. We're keeping it short and sweet: we have a couple of things to let you know about below, but otherwise we just want to say THANK YOU to everyone who has worked with us, our ECTs, our NPQ participants, and our region's pupils - you're all amazing.

Whether your term ends today or next week, we hope you all have a happy and restful break.

Keep in touch

You can follow us on Twitter, sign up to receive this newsletter - or just drop us an email: julian-tsh@ndhs.org.uk.

Our offices will be closed from this afternoon until we return to school on 20 April.

Spotlight on... the ECT programme

Find out about ECF reforms and check that you are taking steps to meet statutory guidance.

Have you recruited an Early Career Teacher (ECT) to start in September, or is there the possibility of you doing so?

Join us for a free webinar, to bring you up to speed on the implications for your school. Pose your questions and have them answered by organisations who have supported schools to deliver ECTs’ statutory entitlement this year.

What the webinar will cover

  • What you need to do if you appoint an ECT
  • Choices for schools in relation to the ECF
  • Case studies of how schools have implemented the ECF reforms
  • Changes to the existing processes
  • Funding and staffing implications
  • How to register your ECT(s), Induction Tutor(s) and Mentor(s) and when this needs to be done
  • Q&A.

Why you should attend

The implementation of the ECF affects how we plan our staffing, with the new roles to support ECTs requiring protected time and training. Even if you have an ECT this year, you may not feel completely confident with the revised statutory guidance for induction, and associated processes. Additionally, we have been feeding back to the DfE on this year’s rollout and have the latest updates to share with you.

Who we are

This webinar will be jointly hosted by the Julian Teaching School Hub, Inspiration Teaching School Hub, and colleagues from Norfolk County Council’s Appropriate Body.

Book your place

Dates: Tuesday April 26, 4-4.45pm, and Wednesday May 4, 4-4.45pm.

Work with us!

We are looking to recruit facilitators and coaches who will lead NPQ cohorts starting in 2022-23.

Why apply?

Teaching School Hubs are a key part of the Department for Education’s recruitment and retention strategy, tasked with delivering a golden thread of high-quality, evidence-informed professional development. Help develop our region’s workforce. Unite schools to serve every child in our region, by applying best bets for improving outcomes. Experience training and support which will benefit you and your organisation.

What kind of people we are looking for?

NPQ facilitators are outstanding leaders, with at least three years’ experience in a role relating to the qualification/programme for which they facilitate and assess. They also have strong knowledge of the evidence base underpinning common areas for school improvement.

Our facilitators have a commitment to system leadership work, the capacity to undertake such work, and have the full support of their employer. Refer to our facilitator competency framework and facilitator person specification and time commitment documents (available to download below) for more detailed information.

Happy Trans Day of Visibility! And a reminder that visibility isn't really about being "seen" (which can often = danger) it's about space in a world where living is made possible and transness is celebrated. It is the duty of allies to help carve out and defend that space #tdov
