The Julian Teaching School Hub

Spotlight on... January 2024 starters

It feels like we've only just welcomed our ECTs and mentors starting induction in September, and we're already thinking about welcoming our next cohort! If your school is employing an ECT to start their induction in January 2024, please let us know as soon as possible.

Your school's induction tutor must register the ECT and their mentor on the DfE online service, Manage Training for Early Career Teachers. This information will be passed to Ambition Institute who will set up their profile on the MyAmbition portal. Both ECT and mentor will need to access the portal and complete the StepLab access form to be set up on the learning portal.

The mentor induction conference is on 11 January 2024, 9am-4pm at The Nest, Holt Road, Norwich NR10 3AQ: sign up here.

The ECT induction conference is on 8 February 2024, 9am-4.30pm at the King's Centre, King Street, Norwich NR1 1PH: sign up here.

Don't forget that you also need to sign up with an Appropriate Body.

Focus on... Initial Teacher Training

Initial Teacher Training is the very start of the golden thread of teacher development. The Julian Teaching School Hub has extensive experience in recruiting and supporting trainee teachers, as well as providing subject-specific training for local training providers.

The Julian Teaching School Hub is proud to have partnered with two experienced teacher training providers:

  • Norfolk, Essex and Suffolk Teacher Training (NESTT), formed following a merger of well-established school-centred local initial teacher training (ITT) providers Suffolk and Norfolk SCITT and BEC Teacher Training.
  • Norfolk Teacher Training Centre (NTTC) was established in 2014, and is a leading teacher training provider with an outstanding reputation, rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted and ranked highly in the Good Teacher Training Guide.

We will be emailing all schools to find out if they have capacity to host a trainee teacher, and to initiate a conversation about the benefits of hosting placements. Find out more by reading our case studies.

If you have a colleague in school interested in training to teach, send them to our website for more information.
