Welcome

Hello! And welcome to this Early Career Teachers Programme newsletter.

Please read this email carefully: it contains important information.

Reminder

We know that the final half-term of the year is super busy with exams, field trips, residentials, final marking and reports - but please do support your ECTs to keep up with their self-study and mentor meetings.

Thank you!

As this is the last of these newsletters this year, the whole Julian TSH team would like to thank you for your continued and considerable support of our ECTs. Our engagement with this programme, as tracked by Ambition Institute, is well above the national average. This means that our ECTs are receiving an above-average introduction to the profession, and an above-average experience of professional learning and development. We know that it isn't always easy to facilitate the time for ECTs and mentors, and we don't take this success lightly.

Thank you so, so much, and happy Pride!

PLEASE READ THE SECTION OF THIS EMAIL THAT CORRESPONDS TO WHEN YOU/YOUR ECT BEGAN THE PROGRAMME.

Breaking news... September 2025 registration opens on 16 June

DfE will begin emailing schools on 16 June, inviting them to begin registering their ECTs and mentors for September. The Manage Training for Early Career Teachers will not be open for new registrations until this date. DfE ask that you wait until you have been emailed before beginning registration. As a reminder, this is the full process you will need to follow:

  1. Let your ECTE programme provider know that you wish to register with them – they will need to contact DfE and let them know.
  2. Choose your Appropriate Body (AB) and let them know that you wish to register with them. If you wish to join the Julian TSH AB, please contact us to request a service level agreement.
  3. Identify your induction tutor and make sure they have access to the DfE online service, Manage Training for Early Career Teachers.
  4. Register your ECT(s) and their mentor(s) on Manage Training for Early Career Teachers. Your school’s induction tutor should do this; they will be asked to specify your chosen AB and your chosen ECTE training programme.
  5. When your chosen AB confirms you can do so, register your ECT(s) on ECT Manager. Induction cannot begin until you have done this, and your AB has authorised the registration.
  6. Your chosen ECTE training provider will receive the information that you have entered on Manage Training for Early Career Teachers and will send you an email with next steps.

Spotlight on... MyECT

You should have received an email from Ambition Institute advising that ECT programme participants are being migrated to a new platform called MyECT. Your log in details will remain the same as for MyAmbition.

MyECT is a revamped version of MyAmbition, developed following detailed user feedback. Ambition Institute has produced short explainer videos for you to explore the new platform:

  • ECTs: MyECT explainer video for ECTs
  • Mentors: MyECT explainer video for mentors
  • Induction Tutors: MyECT explainer video for ITs

If you would like the Julian TSH to pass any feedback on the new platform to Ambition Institute, please get in touch.
