Welcome

Hello! And welcome to our first newsletter of 2026. It's rather late to wish you a happy new year, so we shall simply express the hope that January isn't treating you too harshly.

The start of any term is a busy one in the hub, and over the last couple of weeks we've trained new induction tutors, ECTs and mentors over four days, run 5 NPQ webinars, and delivered a session to trainee teachers with our partner NTTC. Phew!

BREAKING NEWS!

Please share with anyone who may be interested: Join the Julian TSH and a host of ITT providers to find out why you should train to teach in the East!

And finally...

This is your reminder that February is LGBT+ History Month and to help you prepare, the wonderful people at Just Like Us have a wealth of resources, free with registration. Check out their work and support it here.

Spotlight on... New research trials now recruiting

The EEF has launched new research trials recruiting in Norfolk, across early years, primary, and secondary phases. You can read about the trials in the news article below.

If one of the trials interests you, you may be wondering just what happens when you sign up: how much time it will take up, what kind of reporting you will have to do, and so on. Well, here you can read about one teacher's experience of participating in an EEF trial – and why she thinks you should get involved.

If you have any questions about these trials, you can get in touch with Norfolk Research School, and they'll be pleased to help!

Focus on... National Year of Reading

We're big readers here at the JTSH, so we're All In on this initiative. You can read more about what's happening around the country via the news item below, but we also really enjoyed this article, which quotes the legendary Malorie Blackman: "There are so many types of reading you can do. There’s nothing wrong with, for example, reading graphic novels or comic books. If you’re into cars or motorbikes or whatever it might be – whatever hobby or pastime – you can get more out of it if you read about it."

Find out 5 things you need to know about the National Year of Reading here, and remember to support your local library!
