Welcome

Hello! And welcome to the Early Career Teacher Programme newsletter. Happy new year from all of us here at the Julian TSH.

Please read this email carefully: it contains important information.

This half term we have conferences for some ECTs and mentors.

PLEASE READ THE SECTION OF THIS EMAIL THAT CORRESPONDS TO WHEN YOU/YOUR ECT BEGAN THE PROGRAMME.

Please also check out the news items below!

As ever, thank you for all you're doing to make our ECTs feel welcome and supported in the profession.

General updates

  • ECT and Mentor clinics:  thank you for your support in ensuring that participants attended their clinic last term. The next round will begin in March; please could we ask for your support once again to ensure that all ECTs (Year 1 and Year 2) attend their clinic this term.  Year 1 mentors should attend Mentor Clinic 2 this term.  As ever, please let us know as soon as possible if a participant is unable to attend on their assigned date and we will do all we can to provide an alternative date.

  • Coaching-on-Coaching: Year 1 mentors were offered their first 1-2-1 coaching session last term with one of our facilitators; unfortunately, this valuable CPD session has not been well-attended.  Mentors, please could you get in touch with your facilitator and sign up for your session. Year 1 mentors will be offered their 2nd session after February half-term. Year 2 mentors have not yet been offered a coaching session this year, but their facilitators will be in touch this half-term to invite them to sign up for their final Coaching-on-Coaching session.

  • As part of your role as Induction Coordinator, please continue to use the 'Lead' tab on Steplab each week to monitor the engagement of your school's ECTs and mentors. If they have not engaged as they should, your role is to support them to get back on track.

Mentors: we want to hear from you!

We regularly seek feedback on the programme from our participants - and read every comment, and feed back to Ambition. This is your chance to help us improve the programme for you and your ECTs, so please do take a few minutes to tell us what you think.
