Welcome
Hello! Just a few days to go, and we're very nearly in the holiday spirit. Before we begin the two-week festival of overindulgence though, we have just a couple of things to share with you.
Are you employing an early career teacher starting their induction in January 2023?
When you know you will be employing an early career teacher, first contact us to let us know you want to work with us. You will then need to register your ECT and their mentor on the DfE portal. Make sure you enter their cohort year as 2022.
Your ECT will need to attend an induction conference on Monday 23 January, 9am-4.30pm venue TBC.
If your ECT's mentor has not mentored on this programme before, they will also need to attend an induction conference in January, date and venue TBC.
Please note: ECTs and their mentors who are starting their induction in January 2023 must be registered with the Julian Teaching School Hub and on the DfE portal no later than Monday 6 February 2023 in order for their induction period to be deemed to have started in January. Any ECTs registered later than this will be moved into the next cohort which begins in April 2023.
Making Best Use of Teaching Assistants: a partnership programme
Teaching Assistants (TAs) are an invaluable resource in our education settings. From dealing with and managing challenging behaviour, to working with specific needs and barriers, the TA can be the connecting bridge between the child and their learning.
This course supports delegates to make more effective use of their TAs through planning and implementing a strategy to improve the deployment and development of TAs in their school.
The training also aims to provide you with knowledge on maximising the impact of TAs on learning outcomes and attainment. The course will mainly be delivered online, but day one will be a face to face meeting.

Have you completed our CPD survey?
If you have received a link to our survey via your Trust or the local authority, we would be incredibly grateful if you would take some time to complete it. The results of this survey will be used to inform our collective work going forward.
And finally...
We would like to thank you for your continued support of the Julian TSH - and we hope you all have a happy, restful Christmas break.
