Welcome

Hello! And welcome to our November newsletter. We have lots to tell you this month, including new information pages on our website, a new blog series, AND recruitment news - read on for all that and more.

Recruitment news

Could you be an NPQ facilitator? Or do you know someone who could?

We are looking to recruit facilitators for several of the NPQs we offer in partnership with TDT, to deliver training from Spring 2024. Specifically, NPQH, NPQSL, NPQLBC, NPQLT and NPQEYL.

Find out more and apply here.

Partnership news

The Julian TSH and Norfolk Research School have teamed up for a new blog series, How I Use...

Perfect for trainee teachers or early career teachers (ECTs), How I Use... is a series of short articles explaining the evidence base around a particular approach, with an example of exactly what it looks like in a classroom.

We're grateful to Norfolk Research School for their permission to repost these articles - head over to our blog and look out for the co-branded posts.

And finally...

The Julian TSH is excited to announce that Susi Waters has been appointed as the new ITT Strategic Lead for the upcoming 2024 ITT reforms. Susi's valuable contributions have played a crucial role in the success of the Hub, and we are excited for her expanded responsibilities.

Spotlight on... Initial Teacher Training (for schools)

From September 2024, in response to the ITT Market Review, there will be certain changes to how initial teacher training works. As a teaching school hub, the Julian TSH is required to partner with an accredited ITT provider (we've partnered with two) and play a full role in delivering ITT, for example by hosting intensive placements and lead mentors, and by supporting accredited providers with the design and delivery of the training and mentor curriculums.

So that schools have the information they need, we have added five new pages to our website:

  • Information for schools: an overview of how schools can get involved
  • Hosting a trainee: what this involves
  • Information for ITT mentors
  • ITT funding for schools
  • Teaching apprenticeships.

Take a look, and if you have questions that these pages don't answer, get in touch!

Focus on... Initial Teacher Training (for applicants)

The Eastern region teaching school hubs are hosting a FREE webinar for anyone thinking of training to teach in the East of England. Get advice on your next steps:

  • Find out how to apply
  • Find out about the additional support for those applying for shortage subjects and for overseas applicants
  • Get help to organise a school experience visit.

The webinar is at 4.30pm on 7 December - register here.
