Welcome

Hello! And welcome to our second newsletter of the summer term. We won't keep you long: we just have a couple of updates for you (see below).

This week our spring 2022 specialist NPQ participants received their long-awaited results - and with a national pass rate of 96%, we imagine there was a lot of celebrating. We would like to congratulate our cohorts and also thank our facilitators for their incredible hard work.

Applications are now open for all NPQs in 2023-24 - head over to the website to see what's on offer.

We hope you all have a happy, restful half term break - enjoy the sunshine!

Spotlight on... Registering for the ECT programme

In response to lessons learned from last year's updated registration process, DfE and Ambition Institute have made some changes to ensure that signing up for the ECT programme is smoother and barrier-free. Changes are as follows:

  1. In order to better align with DfE and appropriate body guidance, Ambition will no longer use the term Induction Coordinator. This role will now be known as the Induction Tutor. You can find the Induction Tutor role description in the statutory guidance, here (section 5.6, page 45).
  2. For September 2023, we will no longer be asking you to tell us the name of your school's Induction Tutor. Instead, Ambition will pull this information from the DfE's digital service, Manage Training for Early Career Teachers. Please therefore ensure that this information is up to date; if you have a query about your school's named Induction Tutor, please contact the DfE directly.
  3. Induction Tutors will receive an email in early July inviting them to register their ECT(s) and mentor(s) on the DfE digital service. They will also receive an email asking them to confirm their partnership with Ambition Institute - please do not click 'reject' as this will significantly delay the process.

We want to hear from you!

As part of our continued designation as a Teaching School Hub, the DfE asks that we survey school leaders annually to find out how they rate our services; and we are required to report on this as part of the Department's oversight of our work. We also report back to our Steering Group.

It's important that we are held accountable for what we do - not only are we a government-funded organisation, but we also work with teachers at the very beginning of their careers, and they deserve the best start in the profession that we can provide via initial teacher training, the ECT programme and our appropriate body service. In our delivery of NPQs and partnership work on other recommended CPD, we work with more experienced teachers at all stages of their careers - and they also deserve the best we have to offer, since they are the backbone of our schools.

Most importantly, we never lose sight of our vision: "Uniting schools to serve every child, by applying best bets for improving outcomes."

We read every response to every survey we send out, because every child in our region deserves the best outcome possible - so if we can improve our offer to schools, we must.

We would be immensely grateful if you would take a few moments to complete the survey, and help hold us to account for the pupils in your school.
