Welcome

Hello! We made it! As we prepare to break up for the summer holidays we would like to thank each and every one of you for your continued support - of the work we do; and of the early career teachers, mentors, and NPQ participants that you have in your schools. Teaching changes lives, and you make a difference every single day: we are very fortunate to work with you.

Looking forward to next year, we're seeing your registrations for the ECT programme come through - do make sure to look out for your welcome emails from Ambition Institute. We're also seeing your registrations for our Appropriate Body (AB) service: changes to ECT Manager in response to the government's AB reforms are almost complete, and we thank you for your patience. Please see below for a reminder of the registration process.

From all of us here at the Julian TSH, we hope you have a happy and restful break.

Keep in touch

You can follow us on Twitter or LinkedIn, sign up to receive this newsletter - or just drop us an email: julian-tsh@ndhs.org.uk.

All change!

From September, Roger Higgins will be taking on the post of Interim Deputy CEO at our parent Trust, St John the Baptist Catholic MAT. Roger has been Director of the Julian TSH from the very beginning and will be greatly missed.

Sarah Bird, currently Deputy Director of the Julian TSH, will be stepping into Roger's shoes as Acting Director - we are very excited to work with her in this new capacity.

Spotlight on... ECT registration

A reminder of how to register:

  • Your induction tutor will have received an email from DfE inviting them to log on to the service. When the Induction tutor does this, and proceeds to register ECTs and mentors, they will be asked to confirm who the school is using as an Appropriate Body (AB). Please note that completing this part of the online service is not the same as actually registering with an AB – this is providing information only. If your school is using the Julian Teaching School Hub as its AB, you still need to complete and return a service level agreement.
  • The induction tutor will also be asked about the school’s chosen ECF-based induction programme – they will need to specify if the school is using a DfE-funded training provider. They will not be asked to specify who that provider is: if your school has chosen to work with the Julian Teaching School Hub and Ambition Institute, and you have let us know this, we have informed Ambition and they will inform DfE.

  • When the induction tutor completes registration, they will receive a confirmation email. This email will state that your ECT has not yet been registered with the Teaching Regulation Agency by an AB. Do not be concerned! If you have registered with an AB and completed all registration steps with them, the AB will report to TRA in due course. There is nothing more you need to do.

  • You can complete this registration over the summer (if you plan to work over the summer) or at the start of next term.
