Schools and organisations wanted to support research with transgender and gender diverse young people

An important new research project exploring the experiences of transgender and gender‑diverse young people in UK educational settings.

Schools and youth organisations are invited to collaborate on an important new research project exploring the experiences of transgender and gender‑diverse (TGD) young people in UK educational settings. This project is being led by researchers and educators from Coventry University, the University of Brighton’s Centre for Transforming Sexuality and Gender, and Lancaster University.

The study examines how recent socio‑political changes and shifts in public conversations around sex and gender are influencing TGD students’ feelings of safety, belonging, and wellbeing. Using a trauma‑informed approach, the project centres young people’s voices and aims to inform future policy and practice that supports inclusion and prevents harm.

Young people who take part will complete a 20‑minute anonymous online survey, with the option to submit a creative piece (e.g. a letter, poem, or prose). They may also choose to volunteer for a follow‑up online interview with a researcher.

If your school or organisation would be interested in getting involved or would like more information, we’d be delighted to hear from you. To express interest or ask questions, please contact: Angharad Morgan.
