Initial Teacher Training Update

By Sarah Bird, ITT Lead at the Julian Teaching School Hub

Following the government’s response to the 2021 ITT Market Review, all ITT providers that deliver ITT from September 2024 will have to undergo an accreditation exercise for new providers or apply for re-accreditation for existing ITT providers against a set of new Quality Requirements.

So what does this mean for schools hosting ITT students?

At the moment, absolutely nothing.  ITT providers seeking to re-apply will know by May 2022 or September 2022 whether their application has been successful.  Accredited ITT providers and their partnership will start to recruit trainees to ITT courses for delivery in 2024/2025 in October 2023.

The Julian Teaching School Hub has been meeting with local providers to support their applications and will continue to collaborate with ITT providers to help deliver high-quality training, development and recruitment for teachers.

We will continue to update our EENEL5 schools with news regarding the ITT Market Review and wish to thank all of our schools who have supported providers by hosting Placement A students since September.
