Important funding update for schools
For schools participating in the ECT induction programme.
I am pleased to be able to let you know that the DfE has published its funding conditions for schools engaging with the ECT programme (ECTP), as follows:
Funding for Early Career Teacher Entitlement (ECTE) year two – time off timetable (5%) and mentor support (20 hours):
- This will be paid directly to schools at the end of year two of the ECTE.
- Schools do not need to do anything to receive this funding apart from fulfil their obligations under the ECTE: payment will be made automatically using data from central DfE databases and Appropriate Body induction records.
- Amount payable:
- £1,100 per ECT
- £700 per mentor
- Total £1,800
Funding for mentor training – up to 20 hours of training over one year:
- This will be paid in one instalment at the end of the academic year in which the training takes place.
- ECTP training providers will submit evidence of mentor engagement at the beginning and end of the programme.
- Each mentor will only be funded once.
- Amount payable:
- On receipt of evidence that the mentor has started the training programme: £144.34
- On receipt of evidence that the mentor has engaged with no less than 75% of the training programme: £577.34.
- Total £721.68
